Love Your Library for Free Events on Valentine’s Day
Dunedin (Tuesday, 5 February 2013) – Fancy doing something different for Valentine’s Day?
The Dunedin City Library and Port Chalmers Library are each holding an evening event that provides a romantic
alternative to a box of chocolates or a dozen red roses.
From 6pm-7.30pm, Dunedin City Library will host the first of three poetry evenings by the University of Otago Poetry
Collective, Poetry with a Pulse: Prelude, starring former Burns Fellow, Bernadette Hall and 2012 NZ Post Poetry Book Award winner, Rhian Gallagher. Audience
members will be treated to a series of poems recited by these two highly-regarded local poets, with an opportunity to
talk to them about their inspiration.
From 6.30pm–7.30pm, Port Chalmers Library will host English folk singer/songwriter Jake Wilson, whose latest album, All’s Well, brings the voices of the fated Scott expedition to life through a series of haunting ballads and songs. Audience
members will have the rare opportunity to enjoy Wilson’s music before he embarks on a journey to perform in the
Antarctic.
