Deadline Nearing For Infrastructure Fund Applications
For immediate release: Friday 1 February 2013
There’s just less than a week remaining to apply for the first contestable funding round for the Bay of Plenty Regional
Council’s Regional Infrastructure Fund.
The fund supports infrastructure projects that promote sustainable economic development, including environmental
protection or enhancement that will contribute to sustainable development. The deadline for applications is 4.30pm on
Thursday, 7 February.
“Environmental and economic concerns are of equal importance in sustainable development,” said the Regional Council’s
General Manager Strategy, Fiona McTavish.
“We promote this with initiatives like the Sustainable Business Challenge and the Environmental Enhancement Fund. Now,
in our Ten Year Plan 2012-2022, we’ve set aside $38 million over nine years for infrastructure projects that will
promote sustainable economic development, ” she said.
Ms McTavish said the Council expected strong competition for this first contestable RIF funding round.
“We’re anticipating high-quality applications that clearly show how they will make the best use of funding to add value
to the regional economy. This includes showing how the project will be financially viable in the long term.”
