Soak up Sun and Sounds at the Dunedin Botanic Garden This Summer
Dunedin (Monday, 14 January 2013) – Looking for some summer sounds? Then pack a picnic, grab a rug and head to the Dunedin
Botanic Garden on Sunday afternoons.
On Sundays between January and April (excluding Easter), a range of musicians will perform free public concerts at the
band rotunda from 1pm to 2.30pm. The first Sunday Sounds concert will be held on 20 January, featuring the Salvation
Army Corps Band.
Expected to be popular is a performance by The Chills on 27 January, as part of Botanic Garden 150th celebrations. The Chills helped put the ‘Dunedin Sound’ on the international music map.
Dunedin City Council Community Events Co-ordinator Marilyn Anderson is encouraging people to head to the Garden on
Sunday afternoons for a great time.
“The Garden provides the ideal location to relax and enjoy the variety of local entertainment throughout the finer
months.”
The bands which will perform during summer include The Chills, City Slickers, the Dunedin City Jazz Orchestra, the Otago
Symphonic Band and brass bands. The music will include folk, blues, easy listening and reggae.
The last concert will be on 14 April.
