Lake Level Advisory
As forecast, the Queenstown Lakes District Council is not anticipating any problems resulting from high lake levels in the district today. The Otago Regional Council has advised that modelling indicates both lakes will peak at around 3-6pm with levels not expected to cause issues. Lakes will be high and some ponding may occur in low lying foreshore reserve areas but it is entirely business as usual in the district. The Council will keep a watching brief on the foreshore areas. Back country roads in the area are being inspected this morning, at this stage Greenstone, Kinloch, Paradise and the Mount Aspiring Roads remain closed but these roads will re-open as flow and repair permit. The remainder of the roading network in the Lakes District is unaffected.
