Search for Missing Woman Suspended
Police Search and Rescue teams have suspended the land search for the woman missing at Mercer Bay, Piha. Surf club patrols are still searching the coastline while daylight lasts. Extensive land and air searches from early this morning failed to locate any sign of the woman.
Members of the woman's family have been with police during the day.
Police are still interested in speaking to the two people who reported seeing the woman leaving her car just after 7.00p.m. last night.
The Search coordinator, Sergeant Dene Duthie says that search teams remain available in case further information comes to hand but at this stage it seem likely that the woman has somehow ended up in the water.
There will be no further releases tonight unless the woman is found.
