Council meeting continues tomorrow
Christchurch City Council met today to consider a full agenda and will resume tomorrow at 10am
Christchurch Mayor Bob Parker says the Council wanted to make a number of key decisions before the Christmas break.
"We also spent some hours today hearing from the community on key issues before decisions were made. This is an
important step in the process as we want to make sure residents and interest groups have the opportunity to tell us what
they think about the issues and inform our decision-making."
The meeting closed at 5pm today and will resume at 10am tomorrow (Friday 7 December).
Key decisions made today are outlined below; further information will be available after decisions are made on agenda
items considered tomorrow.
Hagley Oval
Canterbury Cricket's resource consent application to redevelop Hagley Oval has been referred directly to the Environment
Court by the Christchurch City Council. If the resource consent is granted, the matter will come back to the Council to
consider whether to grant a lease to Canterbury Cricket.
Draft New Brighton Centre Master Plan
The Council approved the Draft New Brighton Centre Master Plan to be released for public comment. The Council-led Plan
has been prepared to support the recovery and rebuild of New Brighton's centre in response to the damage caused by the
earthquakes.
The Plan will be available from Monday 17 December 2012 to view in any of the Council's open service centres and
libraries. The final date for written comments is 5pm on Monday 18 February 2013.
