Pool closure at Moana Pool
Dunedin (Wednesday, 5 December) - The Dive / Lap Pool at Moana will be closed from Friday 14 December 2012 to Monday 7
January 2013 for maintenance and repair work needed in the pool and the surrounding area. Activities usually based in
this pool will be relocated to other pools in the facility.
All other pools will open be and operational through this period.
Aquatic Services Manager Steve Prescott says, “The closure has been timed to coincide with the holiday period as this is
a time of the year when general usage of the facility is lower, and our user group bookings have finished for the year.”
The maintenance to be carried out includes emptying the pool, replacing tiles on the pool floor and sides, a general
inspection of the pool body, a full service of the lights in the area, and cleaning and servicing the balance tank. This
work cannot be completed when the pool is full of water and operational.
The main user group affected by this closure will be aqua jogging, which will be relocated to the old dive pool and the
deep end of main pool. There will continue to be pool space for aqua jogging for all hours that the facility is open.
Public diving in the old dive pool will be reduced to two hours per day during this period. All other pools in the
facility will remain fully operational through the Dive / Lap Pool closure period.
No revenue is expected to be lost, as users and activities affected have been catered for elsewhere within Moana Pool.
