Car V Pedestrian now Fatal
The elderly woman pedestrian struck by a car at Waimauku earlier today has died in hospital.
The crash happened at 9.15 this morning as the woman was seen trying to cross SH16 at the intersection with Muriwai Road. The vehicle involved, a Holden Commodore, was travelling towards Helensville.
Neighbours of the woman, who is believed to have lived locally, were with her before she was transported by ambulance to Auckland Hospital and next-of-kin have been informed.
SH16 was reduced to one lane as Serious Crash investigators conducted a scene examination and spoke to witnesses including the driver of the Commodore.
The woman's name will not be released until NOK have had the opportunity to notify their wider family.
