Lucky escape from house fire for Wainuiomata family
Hutt Valley Police are investigating a fire at a residential address in Wise Street, Wainuiomata, which occurred around 12.15am on Wednesday 28 November 2012.
A woman awoke to find the porch and wash-house area of the house ablaze and escaped with her two young children through a bedroom window.
The address sustained extensive damage as a result of the fire. A scene examination has been completed by Police and the cause of the fire is undetermined.
Detective Caroline Martin says that "Thankfully no one was hurt. The situation could have been drastically different if the family had not managed to escape through a bedroom window".
