Councillor Daphne Bell, a member of the Fund’s Allocation Committee, says that this fund shows that Council values the role of the performing arts in the life of the city.
“The Performing Arts Contestable Fund was established to support and encourage performing arts groups in the city to develop and grow. The calibre of this year’s applicants represented the strength of the city’s vibrant arts sector. Successful applicants for the inaugural round of funding came from a wide range of performing arts including dance, theatre, music and kapahaka. Each of these groups uniquely contribute to the artistic development in our city.”
The Performing Arts Contestable Fund is funded and administered by Hamilton City Council. A total of 22 applications were received of which 11 were successful allocating a total amount of $100,000.00.
