Feedback on parking changes
Comment is being sought on changes to parking restrictions for Arrowtown and Frankton.
Queenstown Lakes District Council transport manager Denis Mander said the changes were being considered for a number of
reasons.
“In all cases, the proposed changes are aimed at making businesses and facilities more accessible.”
“We’re also addressing some safety issues around parking in Wiltshire Street where people had been parking in such a way
that the road was sometimes impassable for larger vehicles including the fire trucks,” he said.
The changes proposed for Arrowtown included:
A new P10 park to be installed opposite the pharmacy or changing one or two of the current P60’s at the entrance of
Buckingham Street to P10.
All current unrestricted parks in Buckingham Street to be given a 60 minute limit.
No parking lines along both side of Wiltshire Street between Hertford and Berkshire Streets (although parking off the
road on the gravel berm would still be permitted.)
The changes proposed for Frankton included:
A 60 minute restriction on the seven car parks on the corner of Frankton Shopping Centre Street and McBride Street.
60 minute restrictions on all car parks within the Frankton Bus stop area.
A 120 minute restriction on both sides of McBride Street from Gray Street to Frankton Road (SH6A)
A 10 Hour limit in the Grey Street car park.
Feedback on the proposed changes would be required to help Council make a decision and Mr Mander said interested parties
could obtain full details of all the changes proposed, along with maps, from Council offices and libraries as well as
from the website www.qldc.govt.nz.
“We want to hear what the community thinks and we’d encourage everyone with an interest to get their thoughts back to us
as quickly as possible,” Mr Mander said.
