Big splash comes to Flaxmere Park
Flaxmere Park will be filled with the sound of music and the laughter of children as the newly installed Splash Pad is officially turned on for summer.
Hastings District Council has completed stage one of the redevelopment of the park and has organised a family focused event to mark the commissioning of the Splash Pad. The Flaxmere Park Big Splash family festival will be held on Sunday 25th November from 11am – 3pm and will feature entertainment from Flaxmere musicians, a Zumba class for everyone to enjoy while a variety of games will be held throughout the day. Kids will be entertained with face painting, bouncy castles, mini jeeps and the Kaa Zoom Bungee.
Providing entertainment on the main stage from 12.30pm will be Mahina Rangi Lawrence, William Mac, Te Oriwa Mathews and Bobby O’Keefe. A Sport Hawke’s Bay teams’ walkathon will encourage participants to stroll, walk or run around the new walkway at the park to see how many laps each team can complete in one and a half hours.
Flaxmere Councillor Henare O’Keefe says “The community is excited about the redevelopment of the park. This project has beautified and enhanced the facilities which are now available at the park. The kids will be excited when they see the Splash Pad turned on for the first time.”
