Sky Diving Fatality
At 4.00pm today Wanaka Police attended a fatal parachuting incident at a location near the Wanaka Airport.
A 38 year old man, who was an Italian National, died while filming a paid tandem skydive.
Early indications appear that the deceased had difficulties with both his main and reserve parachutes, and died when he hit the ground.
The incident was witnessed by several members of the public, who have been offered support and counselling. No-one else was injured.
Police and the Civil Aviation Authority are investigating, and the death has been reported to the Coroner.
