Serious concerns for missing woman
Police have serious concerns for a Rotorua woman who has now been missing for more than a week in circumstances that are
completely out of character.
Despite a media appeal and extensive enquiries there have been no confirmed sightings of 51-year-old Michelle
Hoffman–Tamm since she left her Phillip Street home around 6pm on Wednesday the 7th November 2012.
Michelle had spent the afternoon with a family member, briefly returned home then set off on her bike indicating to her
partner that she was going to visit friends who lived locally. She never arrived and has made no contact with friends or
family which is highly unusual.
Although she does take some medication she doesn't suffer from any life-threatening condition that gives immediate
concern.
Detective Senior Sergeant Zane Smith said: "This is still very much a missing person inquiry but Michelle has now been
missing for 8 days with no information that readily explains her sudden disappearance. For that reason we have to
seriously consider the possibility that something more untoward may have happened to her.
Michelle is described as a female Caucasian, approximately 5 foot tall, of medium build. She currently has short dark
hair. Her red mountain style bike remains outstanding.
If Michelle is safe and well somewhere she is urged to contact the Police. Anyone else who knows where Michelle is or
has any information is asked to contact Rotorua Police on 07 349 9400. Alternatively information can be provided
anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
