SH14 has been closed as emergency services deal with a fatal crash.
A van with eight elderly occupants left the road 3kms north of Dargaville at about 4.20p.m., coming to rest in a ditch.
One person is confirmed to have died at the scene and others are being treated and transported by ambulance and helicopter.
