Drugs charges after property seized
A 52 year-old man and a 49 year-old woman will appear in the Auckland District Court this morning charged with possession of Class A drugs for supply following their arrests yesterday after search warrants were executed at an inner city apartment and a nearby storage unit.
Along with quantities of methamphetamine and other illicit drugs, Police seized thousands of dollars worth of laptops, mobile 'phones, i-pods, specialist video recording equipment, jewellery and personal belongings from the property during the search.
It's possible the couple will face charges relating to recovered property but inquiries are continuing to determine its origins.
Detective Sergeant Phil Cox of the Auckland Central City Tactical Crime Unit says it's likely others have been involved in the couple's alleged activities based in Nelson St.
"The hard work starts now with the job of confirming who the owners of property seized are by going through receipts as well as lost and stolen property records," Mr Cox says.
"Once we have a comprehensive list of all the items found at the address we will endeavour to identify who the legitimate owners of it are, but that could be some way off and easier said than done."
