Job seekers find help and support at the library
Upper Hutt City Library provides new resources and support for job seekers.
Upper Hutt, 7 September 2012 — Upper Hutt City Library has invested in a new resource to assist job seekers and people considering a career change. MyCareerMatch™ is an easy-to-use online career survey, which based on answers given, provides a personalised career report. This report provides encouraging insight into personal working styles, and gives helpful suggestions about the types of careers and working environments that will best suit a person’s strengths and preferences. MyCareerMatch™ is a powerful CV writing tool, helping people explain their strengths and talents in simple but professional language.
The service is free for Upper Hutt City Library members, and takes approximately 20 minutes to complete according to Library Manager Debbie Duncan. “The survey can be done from the comfort of your own home if you have internet access, an email address, and a library card. Members can also use the computers or free Wi-Fi at the library if they would appreciate having extra help on hand.”
In addition to MyCareerMatch, the library—with the assistance of Upper Hutt City Council’s Community Development team—offers a weekly job seekers session on Thursdays between 11.30 am and 1.00 pm. Members of the public are welcome to come along if they require help with CV and cover letter writing, interview skills or job seeking in general. Internet access is free for job seekers attending these sessions, and morning tea is provided.
To take the online career survey, go to www.upperhuttcity.com/jobsandcareers and click on ‘MyCareerMatch.’
