Man Missing Off Takapuna Beach:
North Shore Police are searching for an Auckland man who is missing after entering the water on a paddle board near the North end of Takapuna Beach.
The man who is aged in his early 50’s went missing early yesterday afternoon and his board was later found by the crew of the police launch Deodar a short distance further along from the point of entry.
An extensive shoreline and sea search has failed to locate any sign of the missing man and his family are naturally extremely concerned. He’s described as 188 cm tall, of thin, muscular build, with short greyish hair.
Divers have not yet been used due to the poor visibility of the water. Consideration will be given to requesting the Navy to assist via the use of their advanced sonar equipment.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the man enter the water or observed him to fall from his paddle board into the sea to call North Shore Police on 09 477 5000.
