Dale Evans, former Paraparaumu/Raumati Community Board deputy chair has fired a shot at KCDC over the costs of its proposed new building.
“I understand other councils are in discussions about sharing buildings for council administration and that seems like a good option for Kapiti also,” said Mr Evans.
Mr Evans said he had seriously considered taking out an injunction to stop KCDC from proceeding with spending over $8 million but hopes the Council will be wise enough to make that decision themselves.
“I think this is a very unwise spend especially at a time when KCDC is swimming in debt,” said Mr Evans.
Mr Evans has written to Council and to the current community board chair urging them to put a stop to this unnecessary spending.
With the probability of Kapiti being part of the new Super City as has been highlighted in the media, spending over $8 million on the council itself seems a foolish waste of ratepayers money.
Mr Evans says this represents about $175 for every man, woman and child in Kapiti.
