FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Monday 12 March, 2012.
Isaiah and Clera Matāfai; Co-Directors of Pacific Mana Productions are launching two new initiatives in the hope to empower and celebrate the vibrant Pacific cultures and people.
Pacific Mana Productions currently head the strong 60 member Auckland Gospel Choir and the Amazing Grace Gospel Choir competition that will take place in October.
Mr. Pacific:
A celebration of Pacific men! This is a pageant like no other. This event hopes to highlight the importance of male leadership in our communities. It is an effective avenue to celebrate Pacific customs, languages, fashion and focus on real issues that should be addressed as a community. Each year will be themed in accordance to alarming issues that need urgent community interception. A focus on health has been decided for the 2013 competition to be held in July. Applications for interested contestants aged 18+ are open now. “We hope to create more positive male role models through this initiative. If an overwhelming number of prisoners state the lack of positive male role model in their lives; then surely this is an anomaly we need to address urgently”.
Pacific Mana Awards:
We have the Grammys, Oscars, Tui’s and other various award forums; however the Pacific Mana Award is one to celebrate and acknowledge Pacific ambassadors across multiple disciplines and fields. This event scheduled for March 2013 is an effective mechanism to inspire and empower Pacific people across the globe. This award ceremony hopes to recognise and lionise those who are excelling in areas such as education, community work, youth, fashion, drama, sport, health, science & much more. “Celebration equals inspiration.
