Auckland Motorways Summer Season
Motorways Summer Season
This Motorways Summer Season will see an unprecedented level of activity across Auckland's highways as the NZ Transport Agency accelerates key projects to deliver safety, congestion and travel time benefits to all drivers.
Between November and February significant work will be taking place and parts of the motorway will be closed at the Bombay Hills in the south as well as the Auckland Harbour Bridge, St Mary's Bay, Victoria Park and Newmarket Viaduct in the central city.
Where possible, the NZTA has timed the full and partial closures at night, during the weekend or in the summer holidays when traffic is lightest. However, there will periods of severe disruption on some sections of the motorway.
We need your support and patience to keep Auckland moving during the festive season. If you are planning to travel to an event, to do the Christmas shopping or heading away for the weekend, please check your route before you drive.
Our digital channels will help people make the travel right choice, so wherever you are in the country you can keep informed. Find us at www.nzta.govtnz/aklsummerseason, on Facebook at www.facebook.com/nztaakl, follow us on Twitter at www.twitter.com/nztaakl or call us on 09 9699800.
For your information we've also attached a timetable of the work scheduled to take place.
Advice for travelling:
• Leave extra time for your journey - up to
30 minutes for long distances
• Follow any signposted
detours in place
• Consider taking an alternative route
or going by bus, train or ferry
• Leave before or after
peak times
• Keep up to date with our digital
channels
• Drive with patience and care
The NZTA is committed to delivering the benefits of these projects as quickly as we can and we'll be keeping you updated as work progresses. Keep an eye out for updates from the NZTA and its Alliance partners letting you know what's happening and when.
We thank you for your support and patience during this busy time as we work to deliver an improved transport network for everyone living in and passing through Auckland.
