Full description:
At approximately 8:15 this morning Police were called to a suspected drowning at the base of the Waimangaroa River, Westport.
A female in her forties was discovered by other White baiters who attempted to revive her, medical staff arrived and attended to the female but were unsuccessful.
Police are still trying to establish the exact cause of death.
The deceased's details will be released once next of kin have been notified.
