Investigation into Wairoa shooting continues
Police are continuing their investigations into a shooting at a Wairoa rugby game at the weekend involving the Mongrel Mob.
Detective Sergeant John McCarthy said police would today continue talking to a large number of witnesses who were in the area of the Lambton Square sports carpark on Saturday afternoon. Police believe 4-5 shots were fired from a sawn-off shotgun by a Mob member sitting on the back of a white Nissan ute. The shots were fired into the air and above a group of people as they were leaving the carpark.
"It's important that we speak to as many people as possible who were in the carpark at the time. There have been various versions of what took place and we need to work our way through a lot of information," Mr McCarthy said.
