Hamilton Rugby World Cup app launched
26 August 2011
Rugby World Cup fans visiting Hamilton can have important event and city information at their fingertips through a free smartphone app available from today.
A Rugby World Cup 2011 ‘plug-in’, specifically for use during the Tournament, has been added to the existing Hamilton NZ app, and has been adapted to enable its use on all types of smartphones.
Described as ‘your essential guide to Rugby World Cup and Hamilton’, the app features transport and road closure information, profiles of the five teams to play at Waikato Stadium, a Hamilton map, and details about other attractions, events and city services on offer.
Rugby World Cup 2011 Regional Co-ordinator Peter Bos said the app is a great example of the city’s smart and innovative approach to welcoming and informing event visitors.
“Many of our Rugby World Cup visitors will be using their smartphones and iPhones to find out what they need to know about the cities they visit, and our app shows we’re up with the play.”
The app is free to download and use. iPhone or iPad users can download the app from Apple’s app store, while users of other smartphones should visit www.hamilton2011.com.
