Auckland projects benefit from Transpower’s

CommunityCare Fund

Transpower announced today that it has awarded a CommunityCare Fund grant to five projects in the Auckland region in its recent funding round. These projects received a total of $85,000 in funding.

The CommunityCare Fund was set up in 2007 to assist communities affected by Transpower’s projects and assets, with projects add real value and benefit to communities as a whole. In the latest funding round, the CommunityCare Fund assisted 24 community organisations, totalling $567,468 in funding.

The five projects funded in Auckland include:

• $20,000 to the Clevedon Pony Club to build a new arena

• $35,000 to Hay Park School for a new playground

• $25,000 to Habitat for Humanity towards the Wymondley Habitat build

• $25,000 to Friends of the Onehunga Community House for the installation of the electrical connection for the restored facility.

• $5,000 to the Hunua Pony Club to repair and replace flood damaged course and equipment

Transpower’s General Manager Corporate Affairs, Cynthia Brophy said that the applications received from the five successful organisations in the Auckland area demonstrated projects that would be highly beneficial to their community.

“It’s great to see so many initiatives throughout New Zealand that really benefit whole communities.

“There are a number of large investment projects, both new build and upgrades to existing assets, being undertaken in the Auckland region over the next three years to ensure a secure supply of electricity to the Upper North Island.

“We recognise the impact that our assets have on communities and are pleased to be able to give these local initiatives some financial assistance so they can successfully complete their projects.

“More than 104 applications were received from community groups and associations in the recent round of funding. The successful applications demonstrated projects that would be highly beneficial to their local community,” she said.
