The Christchurch Rumble Jumble
Media Release for Immediate Release 7 March 2011
The Christchurch Rumble Jumble: Raising money for kids affected by the earthquake.
A huge jumble sale of preloved baby and children’s gear in support of children affected by the devastating earthquake in Christchurch will take place at South Wellington Intermediate School Hall, Newtown, on Saturday 19 March.
The Christchurch Rumble Jumble is being organised by ex-pat Cantabs now residing in the Capital who were spurred into action by the recent disaster. Most of the organising committee are recent mums and dads who wanted to donate their time and skills to a cause which will aid the Mainland’s most vulnerable.
All proceeds will be donated directly to Plunket, who will use the funds to provide quake-related support to children and their families both in Christchurch, and where they have been displaced to other areas.
Organiser Rosie Zwart says “come along, stock up on quality used kid’s gear, clothing and toys and show your support for the children of Christchurch and their families as they recover and pull their lives back together.”
As well as the jumble sale, the event will feature live music, a sausage sizzle, good coffee and a children’s play area, making it a destination event as well as a bargain hunters dream.
The Wellington event runs concurrently with a Rumble Jumble event on Auckland’s North Shore, also organised by a committed contingent of the red and black diaspora.
