Police keen to return recovered stolen goods to owners in time for Christmas
A district-wide Police operation dubbed 'Operation Pyrite', cracking down on an organised crime group, has recovered
lots of stolen goods Police want to return to owners ahead of Christmas.
The operation began in October and since then, 17 offenders have been arrested and charged with a variety of offences,
with more arrests likely.
Detective Sergeant Steve Dunn says, "Throughout the execution of search warrants during the operation, Police recovered
a substantial amount of stolen property. A significant quantity has been identified and returned to its rightful owners,
however there are a number of readily identifiable items Police hope to return in time for Christmas."
Recovered items include a set of family wetsuits, two distinctive golf bags, a jewellery box with various items and an
antique ring set.
"A family has had its leisure opportunities diminished, keen golfers have lost their clubs they have probably built up
over a number of years and a family heirloom has been lost. We want to find these owners so their belongings can be
returned in time for Christmas."
Detective Sergeant Dunn says inside one of the golf bags were green fees paid for two UK golf clubs - Naunton Downs and
Aldenham.
"We hope this will trigger someone's memory and we'll be able to reunite owners with their prized possessions as soon as
possible."
