Draw your friends into the Arts Trail
“Draw your friends into the 10th Kāpiti Arts
Trail,” urges Mayor Jenny Rowan.
“Invite your friends
from out of town, or get a bunch of locals together and make
a weekend of it on the Kāpiti Coast.
“The Coast will be alive with art on the weekend of November 6 and 7, so make the most of it,” Mayor Rowan says.
In the 10th Year of the Kāpiti Arts Trail there as well as the Studio Artists there are new Arts & Artisans Fairs which feature more artists and craftspeople in groups at smaller venues.
“You can plan your own trail to suit your time and interests.
“We have more than 60 wonderful studio artists this year. You can see their work, and talk to them in their studios. You can also buy directly from them or talk to them about a commission to create something just for you.
“There are 14 Arts & Artisans Fair venues throughout the district involving another 140 or so artists and artisans. Highlights include blacksmithing and bodgery, printmaking, glass making, weaving, painting, mosaics, felting, fibre and more!
“We can promise there’s plenty to see, plus galleries and some great cafes on the trail. Trail cafes have art on the walls, plus some have artists on site creating new artworks over the weekend.
“From past experience there’s bound to be something to appeal to just about everyone.
“It can be a great way to sort out your Christmas and birthday shopping, or you might just line up a treat for yourself and your loved ones.”
Brochures with trail maps are available from public libraries, Kāpiti Coast District Council Customer Service Desks, i-site information centres, cafes and galleries around the region.
