Police Release Details Of Cartoon Character & Caption Left By Prison Escapee
North Shore CIB has released details of a cartoon character and caption that was left on a slab of concrete in the area of the prison where Kevin POLWART escaped on Wednesday.
The hand written caption is slugged “Catch Me if you Can” and features an image of a rabbit.
Detective Senior Sergeant Kim Libby of the North Shore CIB says POLWART is displaying both arrogance and confidence in what is a provocative action to taunt Police who are engaged in the ongoing search for him.
POLWART escaped from Auckland Prison on Wednesday and there have not been any confirmed sightings of him since. The search includes relatives, associates, and other likely destinations where he has known connections such as the Wellington and Northland regions.
Police believe that POLWART will soon start to experience the pressure of being on the run, and will implicate others such as family and associates to help him avoid capture.
Police appeal to POLWART to hand himself in and we will manage his safe repatriation. Anyone who wilfully assists POLWART to avoid detection or capture will face serious criminal charges, Mr. Libby said.
If sighted POLWART is not to be approached. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to call Police immediately on Emergency Triple One.
Anonymous information can be passed to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111,
