Removal of contaminated material delayed
The removal of contaminated material from the Waiu Street cleanfill site has been delayed because contractors working for Greater Wellington have been unable to access the site.
Greater Wellington is currently working through issues with the owner of the site to secure access so that work can begin tomorrow.
“Naturally we are very disappointed that we were unable to get access to the site to begin the cleanup operation as we wanted to get this underway as soon as possible,” Greater Wellington Manager Flood Protection Graeme Campbell said.
“If there are no further delays we will begin removing material early tomorrow morning.”
