NZ Police Report: Missing Tramper Alert

At 5.30pm on 29 November 2009 Police were notified of a missing tramper in Tutira, Hastings District.
The missing 78yr old tramper was one of a group intending to tramp to Lake Opouahi in Tutira. He became separated from the other members of the group at 1.00pm and has not been seen since. The missing tramper whilst experienced is believed to have only been prepared for a 'day tramp'.
A 'Search and Rescue' operation has been instigated which has so far involved foot search parties and a helicopter checking likely locations within the search area. Search operations have been scaled down tonight and will recommence at 0700am 30 November 2009.
