Stage set for New Zealand Cup and Show Week!
Christchurch and Canterbury’s biggest race day will kick into gear tomorrow as part of all the action that is New
Zealand Cup and Show Week.
The Christchurch Casino New Zealand Trotting Cup (Tuesday 10 November) features prominently on the harness racing
calendar and Addington Raceway is primed for a crowd of regular racegoers, first-time punters and fashionistas vying for
fashion honours.
Well-known and well-loved fashion competitions for Best Dressed Man and Lady at the Races, this year under direction of
highly respected fashion expert Angela Stone, will no doubt again dominate the headlines.
The Canterbury A Association will throw open its doors to the 79th Royal New Zealand Show on Wednesday 11 November for three days of fun
and excitement, including crowd favourites such as wood chopping and sheep shearing, the NZ Food & Wine Pavilion and entertainment acts including the Topp Twins, just to name a few.
Style guru Andhy Blake returns once more to present another stunning Designer Collection Show as part of his Style
Christchurch extravaganza (12 November), which this year takes Aviation as its theme.
The thrill of racing will continue on Saturday 14 November when Riccarton Park Racecourse dons it finest Spring attire
for the Christchurch Casino New Zealand Cup and Fashion in the Field competitions.
Canterbury’s biggest spring festival will finish with a rock ‘n’ roll bang when the International Rodeo takes the stage
at Westpac Arena, also on Saturday 14 November – a high-energy spectacular to wrap up the week.
Entertainment is laced throughout the week, with the Christchurch Casino hosting everything from Cup Day breakfasts to
poker tournaments and live music every night.
With orchestral and jazz music on offer, as well as the myriad of dining options across the city, there’s something in
store for everyone.
