Environment Enhancement Fund 2008 Pre-Christmas
Environment Canterbury has approved $175,000 of funding for biodiversity projects in the Canterbury region for the 2008
funding round of the Environment Enhancement Fund.
A total of 87 applications were received for the 2008 funding round by the closing date of August 31. Requests ranged
from protecting remnant areas of indigenous bush, wetland and stream restoration to amenity plantings. Five projects
were funded to the maximum allowable limit.
The committee considering this year’s applications was impressed with the standard of applications and the work towards
enhancing biodiversity in Canterbury.
2008 was the eighth round of funding since Environment Canterbury launched the Environment Enhancement Fund in 2001. The
fund assists voluntary programmes that protect and enhance Canterbury’s indigenous biodiversity. Honda New Zealand
provided $57,800 for the Honda TreeFund component of the Environment Enhancement Fund this year.
