Surf Club 174 returns to our screens
Popular children’s programme Surf Club 174 will be hitting our TV screens again this summer - teaching Kiwi kids how to keep safe and have fun at the beach.
No matter what the weather outside, Saturday mornings will be filled with sun, surf and sand as viewers tune in to Surf Club 174 from the comfort of their couches on TV2, Saturday’s at 10.30am.
Surf Club 174 is about to screen a second successful series as an educational children’s television programme which puts a strong emphasis on safety at New Zealand’s favourite playground. It teaches Kiwi kids how to read different types of waves, how to spot rips, how to ride a wave, body surf and boogie board, as well as spot potential dangers on our beaches.
Hosts Cory Hutchings and Julia Toomey will travel our coastline filming at some of our most popular beaches as well as some of New Zealand’s more remote locations. Cory Hutchings needs no introduction as three-times World Ironman Champion and 11-times NZ Champion - making him one of New Zealand’s most successful athletes and highest profile Surf Lifeguards. And Julia Toomey is no stranger herself to winning titles, as she took away a gold medal at the World Life Saving Championships in Germany in August this year.
Together Cory and Julia bring the beach to our screens as kids all over New Zealand will be educated and entertained by the popular Surf Club 174 format.
“Public education plays an extremely important role in safety at our beaches and Surf Club 174 is an effective vehicle to deliver these important safety messages to our younger generation.” says Geoff Barry, CEO Surf Life Saving New Zealand.
Surf Club 174 is an educational programme run by Surf Life Saving New Zealand comprising of the popular Beach Ed and Surf to School brands.
