Two men have been arrested and are appearing in the Wellington District Court this afternoon as a result of investigations into two recent armed robberies.
Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Miller, Wellington CIB, said a 41-year-old Wellington man and a 36-year-old Porirua man are facing joint charges of the aggravated robberies at Silverstream New World supermarket on 22 November and the Kilbirnie branch of Kiwibank New Zealand Post Shop on 2 December.
They also face charges of kidnapping arising from the same incidents.
Police executed search warrants at addresses in Wellington and Porirua today. Both men were arrested without incident.
"The arrests follow extensive inquiries but are not the end of our investigation," Detective Senior Sergeant Miller said. "We are still looking at the possibility that a third person was involved."
If people have information about the two robberies, then please contact Wellington CIB on 0800 TIPOFF or 0800 847 633.
