Police are warning anyone who finds a suspicious package to leave it in situ following an incident in Frankton this morning.
Emergency services were called to a business on Somerset St, Frankton this morning after a woman on her way to work opened a package and found it contained a suspicious white powder.
Police cordoned off the scene while firefighters entered the building to establish what if any threat was posed by the powder and a short time later the all clear was given.
Senior Sergeant Kevin Anderson of Hamilton Police said while the woman did the right thing by contacting Police from work the best thing to do if someone encountered anything suspicious in a package was to leave it in place and dial 111 immediately.
"By moving it you run the risk of cross contamination and it is better to move such packages as little as possible, just leave it where it is and raise the alarm," he said.
