Incident type: gas leak
Gas Leak North Shore.
A large gas leak is eminating from a ruptured pipe at the intersection of Glenfield and Manuka Road, Glenfield.
Preliminary information indicates that contractors working in the area may have ruptured a pipe which has resulted in the leak.
Police have now established road blocks on Manuka Road between Elliot and Eastern Parade; the intersection of Glenfield and Wairau, Hogans and Weldene and Chivalry and Glenfield. No vehicular or pedestrian traffic is being permitted into the area.
United Networks is currently en route to the scene to assess and deal with the leak. Consideration regarding evacuation of any residents will be made shortly.
Police are advising the public to avoid the area surrounding the gas leak as indicated by the road blocks, take alternative routes or if possible adjust tgheir plans for the next few hours.
