ARC Chairman seeks review
The Chairman of the Auckland Regional Council is writing to the Auditor-General to seek a review of the LA Galaxy event held at Mt Smart Stadium this month.
Mike Lee says his request is based on the high level of public interest and the need for an independent assessment to objectively investigate all aspects of the event from conception to delivery.
"I am determined that this will not happen again and that we learn from this experience. I believe that the Auditor-General will provide the authority and independence to ensure just that.
"I wish to assure the ratepayers of the region that any loss from Mt Smart Stadium is ring-fenced as a trading loss and will not impact on rates or ratepayers," said Mr Lee.
Mr Lee said he would make no further comment pending the review by the Auditor-General.
