New Zealanders invited to exhibit at next year's Ellerslie International
Flower Show
All New Zealanders are being invited to exhibit at next year's Ellerslie
International Flower Show.
The Great Ellerslie Photo Competition is a chance for everyone to
capture on film their favourite garden scene - whether their own garden
or a borrowed landscape - and have their work displayed at Ellerslie.
"New Zealand is a nation of garden lovers and many of us are frequently
out at the weekend snapping away capturing both the environment in which
we live and that which is at our back door," says Ellerslie
International Flower Show managing-director Dave Mee
"The Great Ellerslie Photo Competition is a great way for the Show to
celebrate gardening, garden design and the environment through another
creative art form."
The best entries in The Great Ellerslie Photo Competition will be
displayed at the five-day show in North Hagley Park from 11 to 15 March,
being viewed by thousands of national and international visitors.
Judged in four categories - Macro Shot, New Zealand Landscape, Your
Favourite Garden Scene and Child photographers 12 Years and Under - the
competition is a popular feature of the Show. The competition is open to
amateur photographers only.
Ellerslie Exhibition Manager Kate Hillier says she was "absolutely
amazed" at the quality of last year's entries.
"We have some extremely talented amateur photographers throughout New
Zealand. The photo competition highlights our love as a country for
gardening and our landscape.
"Many of the photos show home gardens which rate up there with the
award-winning exhibition gardens at the Show and provide visitors with
an equal amount of inspiration for their own property.
"As for the New Zealand landscape, it is unequalled anywhere else in the
world and this is reflected in the entries in the New Zealand Landscape
category."
Ms Hillier says she is excited about the potential of this year's
competition with a new city, a new venue and a new show.
Entries for The Great Ellerslie Photo Competition close on 28 February.
