Behind the Scenes of the Northern Gateway Toll Road
On Sunday 7 December members of the public will be able to walk, cycle or be driven along the Northern Gateway Toll Road, a 7.5km extension of the northern motorway between Orewa and Puhoi to discover first hand the engineering and environmental feat of the toll road before it opens to traffic in early 2009.
Northern Gateway Alliance staff will be on hand to tell the story of the Johnstone’s Hill Tunnels, eco-viaducts and other features of the road constructed within a historically rich and diverse backdrop.
The road will open to cyclists from 7:30am to 9:30am and walking or bus tours from 10am to 4pm. Due to limited parking space, registrations are essential. To secure a place freephone 0800 40 2020.
