Latest Manukau City Council funding allocations
Manukau City Council’s Grants and Events Funding Sub-Committee allocated over $185,000 (including land rates assistance)
for various community projects in the city.
One of these approvals is $77,805 from its Community Facilities Partnership Scheme to the Weymouth Cricket and Sports
Club Inc
The funding goes towards the redevelopment of the Mountfort Park Pavilion in Manurewa, and will allow the club to
install new security doors, create new changing rooms, office space and upgrade the kitchen and flooring.
The Community Facilities Partnership Scheme supports the development of multi-use community facilities. The scheme is
intended to support community groups to obtain grants from other funding organisations. To be eligible, the proposed
project must be located on a Manukau City Council reserve.
The committee also allocated $82,140 from the Citywide Social Investment Fund to groups whose projects support youth
development and those working with communities in need.
The committee further allocated $25,244 from the Land Rates Assistance Grants for community and sports clubs to various
organisations.
Chair of the Grants and Events Sub-Committee Councillor Hugh Graham says the committee is pleased to provide funding to
support these groups.
“Whether they are encouraging Manukau’s residents to be more active or working to improve the skills and confidence of
the city’s youth, they all make Manukau a great place to live”.
The funding awarded from the Community Facilities Partnership Scheme and the Citywide Social Investment Fund was agreed
by the council as part of the 2008/09 Annual Plan.
