Flying fun
There is some family fun in store this Saturday when electric model aeroplanes can be seen circling the sky over MacLeans Reserve. This is part of an open day organised by Manukau Parks to acknowledge the change in its policy to allow model aeroplanes to fly in three of Manukau's premier reserves.
Following a representation from flying model enthusiasts, the council agreed to allow model planes to fly in MacLeans Reserve, Millhouse Park and Lloyd Elsmore Park. Only electric models will be allowed in these three parks. All models are banned in other parks in Manukau.
The open day is a free family event.
When: Saturday 29 November 8am to 12 noon
Where: MacLeans Reserve
What: While model plane owners can participate with their models, there will be simulators for people to try. To control noise, only electric models will be allowed on the day. There is no need to register.
