Mayor congratulates Kotuku Trust on success at Wellington Airport Regional Community Awards
Hutt City Mayor David Ogden has congratulated the Kotuku Music Academy Support Trust for winning the Supreme Award at last night's Wellington Airport Regional Community Awards.
Kotuku won the 2008 Hutt City Supreme Award for Voluntary Organisation of the Year which then allowed the Trust to compete for the Supreme Award at the Wellington Airport Regional Community Awards.
The Awards recognise the contribution of volunteer organisation in the Wellington region.
“Kotuku has developed a model that helps young people improve their social circumstances through music. The Council is delighted with the contribution Kotuku has made in encouraging our young people to reach their potential - eleven of the choir come from Hutt City.
“To be chosen as Supreme Winner above so many other wonderful volunteer organisations shows what a great achievement it is.
“Everyone at Kotuku should be very proud of themselves. I congratulate them on their success and wish them the best of luck for the National TrustPower Community Awards in March next year where they will represent the Wellington region,” Mayor Ogden said.
