Still time to have say on Orakei peninsula options
Residents of the Hobson and Eastern Bays wards have until 5pm on Monday, 17 November to give feedback on proposed
development options for the Orakei peninsula.
“A comprehensive summary of the master plan options is available on the council website, www.aucklandcity.govt.nz and in
Parnell, Remuera and St Heliers libraries,” says Councillor Graeme Mulholland, deputy chairperson of the council’s City
Development Committee.
“Feedback is easy to give via the website or we’re happy to receive written submissions addressed to Orakei feedback,
group manager, City Planning, Auckland City Council, Private Bag 92516, Wellesley St, Auckland 1141.”
Mr Mulholland said that following distribution of a council summary to residents in the two wards on 2 November, many
residents had made submissions. “Submissions show that people have digested the information and the majority see the
benefit of a master planning approach to developing the peninsula, rather than a hotchpotch of individual developments
which can be built as of right.”
He said the Orakei peninsula was one of the few remaining sites in the city with the opportunity to build a high
quality, mixed use, water’s edge community with public spaces for all Aucklanders to enjoy and all accessible by rail.
Feedback will be analysed and reported to the December meeting of the City Development Committee with a recommended
master plan option.
