Style Christchurch – It’s a Wrap!
Kiwi creativity and glamour were on full display at this year’s unique Red Dress Collection event and the incredible
Designer Collections Show for Style Christchurch.
Thursday November 6th heralded the very first Red Dress Collection for Christchurch which was held at the Tamaki
Heritage Village in honour of the New Zealand AIDS Foundation. Guests were treated to a four hour journey through Maori
tradition and culture, winding their way to a thrilling fashion show of one-off designer Red Dresses. Guests were
treated to a traditional hangi and a silent auction was held to raise money for the New Zealand AIDS Foundation.
The Final Designer Collections Show was held the following night, Friday November 7th in the beautiful Issac Theatre
Royal and opened with a bang as red confetti exploded into the audience. The show opened with alluring label IPG, then
followed with acclaimed designers such as Huffer, Nom*D, Stitch Ministry, MisteR, Sakaguchi, Sonia Smith, Emma Ford,
Helen Cherry, Workshop, V, Koila McBride, and Gas by Dan Carter. The theme of the show was ‘80s-glam’ themed fashion extravaganza showcased
trends for Summer 08/09 as well as Winter 09.
Style Christchurch’s Producer and Founder; Andhy Blake says “This year’s show really took Style Christchurch to another
level for me. The designers and models that were on display were of an exceptional quality and I’m really looking
forward to seeing where the show goes from here,” he says.
Two of the key highlights from the show were Koila McBride, a guest designer from Fiji who wowed audiences with her
refreshingly colourful collection and easy, breezy fabrics. MisteR was also popular with the audience and featured
whimsical taste and upbeat models. Famous models in both shows included Nicole C and Kayleigh from AliMcD Model Agency
(Dunedin) both of whom have been recently signed to the prestigious Trump Models in New York.
