GO Wellington gives the Ride of Your Life
GO Wellington is proud to be a major sponsor of the first Ride of Your Life event Wednesday, 5 November from 6pm to 9pm.
“GO Wellington will be donating all cash fares taken on the buses between 6pm and 10.30pm to the Wellington Free Ambulance service,” says Zane Fulljames, General Manager Southern Region, NZ Bus.
The three hour Ride of Your Life event, at Frank Kitts Park, precedes Wellington’s annual Pelorus Trust Sky Show, and aims to raise funds and awareness for the Wellington Free Ambulance service.
Ride of Your Life will feature live music, tug boat rides and jet ski, wave skis and thunder cat demonstrations in the harbour. The New Zealand Defence Force Kiwi Blue Parachute Team will drop into Waitangi Park.
“It makes sense for people to take public transport to major events,” says Mr Fulljames. “With the capital expecting around 100,000 spectators for the Pelorus Trust Sky Show on Wednesday evening, we thought donating cash fares taken on our buses would be a great way for GO Wellington to show its commitment to the Wellington Free Ambulance service and in turn support the Wellington community as a whole.”
“We hope everyone will take the bus. The more people who get on a GO Wellington bus, the more money will go to the Wellington Free Ambulance service.”
GO Wellington are also putting on a bus display at the Taranaki Street Wharf area. The display will be open to visitors from 6pm to 10pm and will include one of the new GO Wellington Scania buses as well as four vintage buses.
For more information on where to catch a bus to the event please call Metlink on 0800 801 700.
