Isaac Theatre Royal still holds its Style in Christchurch
A stunning ‘80s-glam themed fashion parade in a dramatic theatrical setting will wow audiences at this year’s Style Christchurch.
The opening night to New Zealand Cup and Show Week will showcase Kiwi creativity and glamour in an exciting party style atmosphere on Friday 7 November.
Style Christchurch’s founder and renowned stylist Andhy Blake says this year’s show will feature some of New Zealand's best known designers from Canterbury and all around New Zealand and a special guest designer - Koila McBride from Fiji.
“Designers will be showcasing trends for Summer 08/09 as well as Winter 09.
“We will have some of New Zealand's next generation supermodels, including Nicole C and Kayleigh from AliMcD (Dunedin) who have both recently signed model contracts with Trump Models in New York," said Mr Blake.
The unique Designer Collection Show is being staged at the iconic 1000-seat Edwardian heritage building, the Isaac Theatre Royal.
100 years old this year, the Isaac Theatre Royal will present terrific sophistication to this glamorous, stylish event.
Isaac Theatre Royal Marketing Manager, Shaun Gilmore, says the Theatre is still going strong.
“When Style Christchurch approached us to be part of the event we jumped at the opportunity as the opulence of the auditorium fits well with the glam theme.
“After a $6m refurbishment in 2005 we are very keen to expand our client base from the performing arts and into anything that requires or will be enhanced by using our magnificent space,” he said.
This epic event is the official fashion event of New Zealand Cup and Show Week and the first major highlight of the week.
For those intending to look their most glam at the races this New Zealand Cup and Show Week – a style tip from Mr Blake:
“Less is Best.
“Monochromatic dresses in florals, styled with a thin or thick belt in metallic colours are the way to go. Ditch your hats for more dramatic head pieces and pay more attention to your shoes as well! Have the complete package - shoes, outfit, make-up and accessories. Guys, wear bold coloured shirts and team this up with striking coloured ties," he said.
To see first-hand the latest fashion trends purchase tickets from the Theatre Royal or Ticketek.co.nz. Tickets are $30 each for an 8pm show.
