$10.3m redevelopment of Norman Kirk pool
Manukau City Council will redevelop Norman Kirk Memorial Pool in Otara Leisure Centre to provide more use of the facilities and offer improved health benefits to the community. The facility is owned by the council and run by Manukau Leisure Services Ltd., a council-controlled organisation.
The $10.3 million project will include improved pool change area and upgrade and extension of existing plant and pump room. A new extension will provide office and storage, learners pool, splash pool, spa pool and sauna and combined leisure fun activity and lap pool. The outdoor pool will be retained.
The council has appointed Davis Langdon New Zealand Ltd as project manager. They'll also provide quantity surveying services. IGNITE Architects Limited will provide design services.
The council is arranging a workshop with the local community in November to receive ideas and input that can be included in the design brief.
A project development team has been formed which includes representatives from the Otara Community Board.
