Christchurch police are warning people crossing Hagley Park to take extra care after an assault last week.
A 25 year old woman was sexually assaulted in North Hagley Park between 10- 10.20pm last Wednesday 22 October. This occurred near the pathway that runs past the Croquet Club heading from the end of Riccarton Road towards the lakes in the middle of north Hagley.
The woman has described seeing other people in the area prior to the assault.
A cyclist originally sought has come forward but a male on a long skateboard has still not been identified. The woman believes they may have seen the offender prior to the asault. Police are appealing for this skateboarder and anyone who may have seen anything or have information to come forward.
The offender is described as being male, Caucasian, in his mid thirties.
The incident is of concern as this walkway is frequently used says DSS David Harvey.
"Please take care if you use this path way," he says. "If you see anyone acting suspiciously please call police immediately. Until this is resolved take extra caution especially after dark."
