Operation Reyburn - Media Update 25 October 2008

The investigation into the Police shooting of a woman in Reyburn Street, Whangärei last Thursday is ongoing.
The name of the deceased woman is now able to be released. She was 37 year old Lee Jane METTAM of Onerahi, Whangärei.
The next of kin for the deceased, in New Zealand and overseas have been contacted. They request that their privacy be respected.
Police acknowledge the assistance and support of the local community and businesses in the area. Any witnesses to the events of last Thursday are requested to contact the Whangärei Police on (09) 4304500.
In particular Police wish to speak with anyone who witnessed the incident and in particular anyone who saw the deceased prior to the incident in the Whangärei City area.
The deceased is described as a female of thin build, with long brown hair worn in dreadlocks to her shoulders. At the time she was wearing a dark coat, a dark baseball cap and blue jeans.
